 As the name implies, Oceanside, California, is a coastal city located in San Diego County. With a population of just over 183,000, Oceanside is the third largest city in the county. Oceanside is part of a tri-city area also containing Carlsbad and Vista. The city covers 42.2 square miles with 3.5 miles of beachfront and is located just south of Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton. It lies about 35 miles from downtown San Diego.

Amtrak's Pacifc Surfliner offers 11 daily round-trips from Oceanside to San Diego, Anaheim and Los Angeles, as well as extended service to Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo. Nearest airports are the Oceanside Municipal Airport, McClellan-Palomar Airport, Los Angeles International Airport and San Diego International Airport.
